How Having a Solid Contract for Your Business Will Actually Save you Money
We all know we need to have contracts in place when it comes to our business. It is just part of being a solid CEO. But we also know that finding a contract that is right for our business and addresses all our concerns not only takes time but also takes money (I’ve solved both these problems for you btw, but more on that later).
I want to share with you how having a contract in place, although an investment of your most valuable resources (time and money) up front, can actually save you money down the line.
Your contract will address what the scope of your agreement is with the other party. This means you will know exactly what is expected of you and what you will be receiving. This means there won’t be any surprises down the line. The other party can’t say “oh that’s more than what I thought you wanted from me, that will be an additional $$$ amount.” Nope. No hidden charges means you are not going to be spending more that you thought.
Payment terms are actually laid out and spelled out so there is no confusion. When will you be paid, how much, and by what mechanism….yup, all laid out. Knowing when you will be paid and how much means you will never be chasing clients or arguing with them over how much is actually owed and when. That not only saves you money but saves you time and hassle as well.
Should something go wrong when it comes to your agreement, how things will be handled will be clearly spelled out. Therefore if your client decides unexpectedly that they want to cancel the agreement, no problem. The terms of the cancellation will be clearly spelled out and you would have planned for this in advance and will know exactly how much you will still be getting paid.
The goal of the contract is to have a clear understanding between both parties as to what is expected of each party. And while I realize you are all smart business owners, I also realize that you don’t want to spend a lot of time or money to get your hands on a reliable contract. That is why I created a collection of Legal Contract Templates that allows you to get your hands on a rock solid attorney drafted contract without the expensive price tag. These industry specific contracts were drafted with the entrepreneur in mind and will ultimately save you money in the long run!
